The “Połoniny” Student Song and Dance Ensemble

About

“Połoniny”, the artistic ensemble representing the University and the city of Rzeszów, is currently comprised of over 100 members (most of whom are students) in 4 dance groups, a vocal group, and a folk band. Their impressive repertoire includes local, regional and national dances and songs of a traditional and folk variety.

   The group has given more than 1600 concerts, and TV and radio programmes around the globe in 36 years, winning numerous prizes in folk festivals worldwide, contributing to its reputation as one of Poland’s leading folk ensembles. The group regularly performs throughout Europe, Israel and Turkey, as well as the USA.

The greatest achievements of the ensemble are:

  • Winning the “Steel Pen” in the National Festival of Students’ Ensembles of Song and Dance (Katowice 1976)
  • First place in the International Festival of Students’ Ensembles of Song and Dance (Sosnowiec 1979)
  • The “Grand Prix” in the National Festival of Students’ Ensembles (Katowice-Sosnowiec 1980)
  • First place in the National Review of Folkloric Ensembles (Rzeszów 1996 and 1998)
  • First place in the National Review of Folkloric Ensembles (Lubaczów 2000)
  • First place in the National Review of Folkloric Ensembles (Łowicz 2002)
  • "Połoniny” has taken part in many TV and radio programmes in Poland and abroad.
